There is a guest house on the hill behind Lopaus House known as "The Nubble" that may be occupied by family or rented during your stay. The use of any fire arms or fireworks are prohibited at this property. No large, private or commercial parties or events are permitted.

The Lopaus House aka Child Cottage is a spectacular and unique rustic in nature, oceanfront home on a private peninsula, surrounded by ocean, fields, and walking paths. Stairs lead to the rock beach, perfect for searching for sea glass, launching your kayak or stand up paddle board, watching sunsets, or a quick dip in the ocean. Sit on the large deck and watch the lobster men haul their traps, listen to the crashing surf, and enjoy the panoramic views. Located on the “quiet side” of beautiful Mount Desert Island, and within a short drive to Thurston’s Lobster pound and Southwest Harbor, this one of a kind sprawling log cabin, with its rich history, will be unlike any other place you’ll see.

The living/dining area leads to two additional bedrooms, and 1.5 bathrooms. One of the bedrooms has a queen bed, front and side ocean views, ample closet space and a private door leading to a small side porch. The other bedroom has two twin beds, side ocean views, and plenty of closet space.

Rental payments must be in US funds and can be in the form of a personal check, cashier's or certified check,traveler's check or cash. Visa, Master Card, and Discover are now accepted. If paying by credit card there will be a 3.5% administrative fee applied to the payment.
